£1,000 on-campus housing bursary

You could be eligible for a £1,000 bursary to help with on-campus living costs.

To qualify, you’ll need to meet all of these conditions:

  • be a new (Year 1), full-time undergraduate student for the academic year 2025-26
  • be a UK, ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡-funded student
  • have a household income of under £25,000 (as asssesed by )
  • live on campus in University-managed accommodation for 39 weeks in your first year
  • join Sussex through a Firm or Insurance choice or Clearing.

Key dates

  • Applications open: Thursday 14 August 2025 (check back then to access the application form).
  • Applications close: Friday 5 December 2025
  • Bursary payment date: Monday 12 January 2026

We offer a range of self-catered housing options to match your budget and your preferences. In each residence, your rent will cover all utilities including cleaning, security and contents insurance.

We’re making our campus even better to help our students flourish – in their studies, communities and social lives.

Our West Slope Development will offer new living, wellbeing and social spaces, while our Network Replacement programme will deliver improved IT services, including faster internet speeds.

Our campus is home to wildflower meadows, local wildlife, and even a Forest Food Garden, where you can learn how to plan, plant and harvest food in a woodland ecosystem. We’re also just a short walk away from Stanmer Park, which offers rolling farmland, historic landscapes and a newly restored walled garden.

Choose, apply, move in, extend

If you’re eligible for campus accommodation, you’ll receive information from March onwards that outlines how to access our housing portal and submit your application.

After accepting your housing offer, you’ll move onto campus in September, where our ResLife team will be ready to welcome you and help you settle into your new home.
